History of TDF

The Tibasingurwa Development Foundation (TDF) is committed to driving progress and development in our community through targeted projects. We believe that by investing in people and providing them with the tools to succeed, we can build a brighter, more sustainable future for all.

The Name 'Tibasingurwa' is the Rutooro word for "overcomer"; someone with a determination to overcome all manner of challenges and barriers in their way. We are a registered non-profit, non-partisan organisation serving in Uganda as a Company Limited by Guarantee based under URSB - Uganda Registration Services Bureau (#80034514195976) in 2024.

Brief history and Background: The original idea started while founders (Lydia and David Mwesigwa) were working in Lesotho - Southern Africa in another organisation that they started, called Men of Destiny - Lesotho. It is still running under the care of the Executive Committee there. When they returned from the diaspora, they decided to set up shop in the quiet rural town of Katooke in Kyenjojo District (Western Uganda).

    Our Core Values include:
  1. Diplomacy - connecting communities to other communities
  2. Integrity - walk the talk; clients love trustworthy people.
  3. Strategic - plan for the long term, not just short-term.
  4. Honour - we value people and accord them the respect due them.
